You are 12 years old today, 1 more year and you will be an official teenager. It is amazing how fast the time goes. I knew from the day I met you we were meant to be together. I promised myself I would never disappoint you and to this day I hope I haven’t. You love to sleep in and if we let you, you would sleep all day. You are an organization queen. Your room is always spotless. You are very helpful, you step up when someone is in need no matter how big or small it is. You are very kind hearted. You hate math but love English, you can write a story in no time. You love the color black and love to wear jeans even when it’s hot. You tease your brother and sister but love to play with them…as long as you are in charge. You are a leader not a follower. You are great with children. You love to text message on your cell phone but hardly ever make actually phone calls. You love music; YouTube has become your best friend. You love making crafts for other people. You are the most independent out of you and your siblings. You love to have the last word. Since you have started middle school you love school and it only gets better. You share your birthday with Christmas which makes the day even more special.
You are our oldest, you are one of a kind, I am grateful for you. I love you now and for eternity.
Happy 12th Birthday Kaela!

Happy 8th...
You are 8 years old today. I remember December 21, 2000 like it was yesterday. We all thought you were the most beautiful baby we had ever seen until we got your hospital photos. Man did you look so beaten up! From that day forward I knew we would be great friends. You are a lot like me, probably more than either of us would like almost two peas in a pod! You have great enthusiasm every day. You light up a room when you walk in. You can talk anyone’s ear off. You sure can pout better than anyone I know. You love to do math and to make crafts. You like to learn new things in the kitchen, always wanting to help pour or measure. You love the color pink but you also love dirt and bugs. It is hard for you to pick out an outfit on the first try. Holy shoot is your favorite saying right now. You and Jonathan are good buds, you get along really well, and you read to each other at night when lying in your beds. You love to play teacher in your room, you even carry a whistle around your neck when you can find it. You have a big heart. Your love for babies is unbelievable. Riding bikes, running, swimming, playing outside are things you would choose to do in an instant. You are a slob and hate cleaning your room. You never make it in the dirty clothes basket. You are pretty independent.
I am very grateful for December 21st but I am more grateful for you. I love you yesterday, today and forever.
Happy 8th Birthday Bry Bry!
(I will post birthday pictures tomorrow)

Let it snow, let it snow, let it SNOW...
** UPDATED W/ PHOTOS**
Tuesday night Kaela had her first band concert at school. She was grumpy and didn’t even want to go, so typical of a pre-teen. It turned out so much better than I had anticipated and she and ALL of her 6th grade class did so well. Actually they were better than the 7th grade class. They played 3 Christmas songs and it was really fun to watch them play. Feet tapping, instruments singing and the audience loving it. I think it made Jonathan want to be in a band already. Kaela even thinks she would like to continue it in 7th grade which I am proud of her for. She really has improved so much and it isn’t even terrible to hear!
Wednesday I took the day off to join Jonathan and his class on a field trip to the Children’s Museum. It went well. The kids love that place and I remember as I child I did too. It was cut short because of the weather, cold and rainy – they had to skip lunch on the hill. So we ended up back at the school and eating in their class rooms, I stuck around for that and Jonathan really enjoyed me sitting at his little desk eating with me.
After school the kids got a special treat from Mother Nature…snow! YES we actually got snow in Houston. The kids thought it was amazing and had to go out and play in it. It actually continued for a long time. We decided there was no better time than cold, snowy weather to go get our Christmas tree. We all bundled up and set out to find the perfect Christmas tree on the perfect night. The kids had fun trying to catch snowflakes on their tongues while running through rows and rows of trees. After the kids went to bed we realized the snow had gotten thicker and was actually sticking to the ground, I snapped a few shots so the kids would believe me, Kaela was the only one still up.
Jonathan woke up hoping to see more snow but no luck, just some frosty cars.

I was trying to capture the snow falling...you cant see it.

Priceless??
Hearing Jonathan whisper to Bryanna, “Wanna stay up all night on Christmas so we can see Santa?”...Priceless
Cracking pecans for Christmas cookies while Bryanna plays her new Christmas cd in the background and singing along...Priceless
Kaela, Bryanna and Jonathan’s Christmas lists…are NOT priceless!

You'll shoot your eye out...
Growing up I distinctly remember watching A Christmas Story every time it came on tv. I loved it, it was definitely my favorite. Now a day my favorite Christmas movies are more like The Holiday or The Family Stone, I could watch those over and over and I have been, sad to say! As I lay in bed last night trying to find something to watch I came upon the beginning of A Christmas Story. I got excited just like when I was a child. I immediately called the kids in to watch with me, I thought they would enjoy it as well. The girls lasted about 10 minutes but Jonathan cuddled up with me and laughed his rear off practically the entire time. He too thought it was a great movie, maybe because Ralphy wanted a BB gun and Jonathan can totally relate. Jonathan didn’t understand why his parents wouldn’t buy him one, he kept saying, Ralphy is old enough Mom, he needs one. It was pretty cute and I was glad to share that movie with Jonathan. Hopefully he remembers it like I do although he will probably have to watch it a few 100 times.
I am proud to say that I did go out on Black Friday to shop. Not at 4am or some crazy time and I just went to Wal-Mart. It was a MESS. Seriously I don’t understand how people just pick stuff up and throw it in some random stop. If you don’t like it don’t touch OR put it right back. I was successful in my journey and got so much complete. I am completely done with my children’s Christmas shopping. Can I think of more to buy them YES but I am not going too. You have to draw a line somewhere and I am not one to go overboard, they will get so much stuff between us, grandparents, aunts and uncles. I have limits and I am sticking with them. I also have everything I bought wrapped and ready to go! I love being organized and I love wrapping so it’s hard to let everything just sit in bags. It is however killing the kids to not know whose present is whose because I don’t label them. Their inquiring minds want to know!
Hope your shopping is getting done too!
