Another year come and gone. It is crazy how much we look forward to this tradition with the Flores family. This was our 7th year going. We book these reservations practically a year in advance just to make sure we get our spots! The kids love Garner State Park so much; it really has turned into a great tradition for them. This year we had 27 adults and 11 or so kids. We get 5 campsites and set up shop. We only got rained on once this year so we lucked out. The water in the Frio River was still too low to float but we always find a good hang out spot and have a blast. This year my kids climbed the BIG tree and went half way up…of course they wanted to go back the next day and make it to the top but I told them maybe next year. We had a deer named Jackie sit at our campsites all day one day, it was ridiculous, and he even came under our canopy for shade. He let the kids pet and feed him as well. Once the park started to get packed Jackie headed for cover. The kids look forward to the dance every year too. Jonathan danced with like 7 girls…all older! Bry danced with a cute little boy this year too and Kaela she danced but mostly hung out. It’s always fun to see how excited they get and how they try to dress up a little while camping just to go to the dance. One morning we hiked up to Crystal Cave and Painted Rock. It was hard but the kids did really well, I was worried but I think I was breathing harder than they were! We can’t wait until next year!
